Sam Raimi's Spider-Man (10 Years)

This movie is a stand out at its time and remains to be. I still remember conversations with friends at the playground, one where we impersonated lines from the movie's TV spot. Loved just about everything that has to do with the film. Wanted the tie-in action figures and video games, T-shirts - call me a geek if you will, I was a FAN, more so than my love for the original comics or the animated series.

No one, and I mean no one, yells "PARKER!" better than Simmons.

Raimi's version of Spider-Man will remain irreplaceable. Danny Elfman's contribution to the score was no-brainer as he gave musical entity to many super hero films and cartoon series. Further to what put the whole act together was the ensemble of cast. Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn/Green Gosblin. James Franco as Harry Osborn. Rosemary Harris as Aunt May. J.K. Simmons as Jonah Jameson. Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson. To me, this was the perfect ensemble for Spider-Man.

When looking back in today's standards, I have to sadly say that this movie has aged with some cringe-worthy cheese in dialogue and effects. But in everything else, I'd say it stands the test of time, despite the goofs I've noticed since first viewing, like when Peter's nosebleed appears and disappears between shots.

 It'
s sad this version of the film is done with. Was outraged to hear a reboot with The Amazing Spider-Man happened instead of a 4th entry, throwing away all the good made over the years. Guess it had to happen at some point.

Will I watch The Amazing Spider-Man? I'll admit to having selfish reasons not to at first but after the 2nd trailer, I was convinced. Will definitely give it a chance.
To close off, I'll leave with one of the two title tracks that served not only a great soundtrack for Spider-Man but to my childhood in mid-2002. That and another picture of Kirsten Dunst. Why not.
